Transfer is almost over?????? What!???

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Monday, March 16, 2015 11:16 AM

This is the last week, and if i get transfered i will be really sad...
We finally got some strong investigators that we are close to putting
with date, so that is sad. So wednesday until now I have been sick and
i still am sick with a pretty high fever, and my district is just all
sick.. The sisters are sick, my companion is sick, the zone leaders
had to go to huancayo because Elder Chapeton had to get his appindix
removed, so all in all this week has just been sick week... good news
is i am starting to feel better. The zone leaders wont come back until
wedesday. I love all of yall and I know this next week will be a great
one!!! By the way, mom and dad... if yall happen to go to lamberts
which i know yall will, you should definetly send some photos of the
food, what its like inside and a video of the guy throwing rolls, my
companion is super interested and would like to see!!!! Thanks

Me and my amor

Me in my area CERRO DE PASCO!!! WHOOOOOO!!!

buenas dias

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Monday, March 9, 2015 9:41 AM

This week has been more than just a good week, one of my best weeks i
have had here. First of all to start off i have found a new addiction
to bon o bons of tres leches! They are amazing but i was in a
chocolate coma for awhile haha.

So this week we started off well as we have had many lessons. However,
still no one with a baptism date, but we are working with a couple of
people, one being that lady named norma who lives in the highest house
in all of cerro, another being a 10 year old boy named louis who has
come to church 2 times now. I have a good feeling that we will be able
to put him with a baptism date! The sad part being is, i am most
likely leaving this change, which is sad because i have really warmed
up to the coldness here in cerro! haha

Everything is going good here, im super excited and we are working
hard!!! It is getting colder and raining more and more each day!!! I
love it hahaha!!!!  (my clothes are just getting ruined here).

I hope every one is doing good, id like to hear from more of my
brothers ....cough...cough..... josh...cough...cough ...)

I have so many questions about things in the scriptures that I want to
know however, i dont think there is an answer....

Love yall so much!!!

Elder Thatcher

P.S. I ate sheep liver this past week.....

i really like these.... chocolate coma...

!Estos poderisimos!

Commo estamos?? This past week, has been a great week. The best week i
have had teaching wise in cerro! So we start off a little slow by
contacting houses, which was very slow, and this one lady answered a
house, and straight up told us no.. so i was sad, and i decided to ask
if there was anyone else who might be interested, which every time i
ask that they say no... but she said yes! She didnt want to hear us
but her mom did apparently! Her mom always has wanted to listen to
those gringo missionaries! Crazy! I got a reference from a contact!!
we have taught her two times now. Her name is norma and she lives in
the highest house in cerro, i will show yall a pic of how highn it
is!! Crazy huh? We are about to rescue a lady who is less active named
isabel, she just needs an interview and then that will be my first
rescue of my mission!

ok... so yesterday!!! Scariest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!! BIG
DOG!!!!!!!!!!!! there was this dog in this yard that had a huge wall,
well this dog hates the missionaries due to past missionaries. he
heard our voices, broke his chain.. and jumped over thee wall!!! Elder
Schreiner and i bolted down the street! He was huge!!!!!! we ran so
fast, he almost bit me!!!! So i threw my water bottle at him and he
just kept coming!!! we probably ran 7 o 8 blocks til finally he
stopped!!! So scary!"!!!!!!

So it rained from thursday straight until sunday... did not stop
raining! and my umbrella is still not working.

So yesterday was Elder Chapeton ( my zone leader) birthday! so we had
a meeting with our ward mission leader and after we suprised him with
a cake! Here in peru that have a really dumb tradition where they have
to smash there face in the cake before we eat some! I dont like that
because hey! I want some Cake!!!! Then after that everyone gets an egg
and smashs it on his head and then pours a bag of flour on his head!
its so messy! and i would hate that!!!

Anyways, that was our week, good week... we have some references that
have alot of potential this week. We will see how it goes!!

Te amo mucho!!!!

Con muchos llamas y amor,

Elder Thatcher

News for week of Feb. 9-Feb 16

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Wednesday, February 18, 2015 9:47 AM

buenos dias mi familia y mis amigos!!!

Everything is going well here! We went to huanuco on monday for a
conference with president! It was good but we didnt know about it
until saturday!! So our p day is today! Well! Elder Schreiner and i
didnt get transfered! Cerro de pasco!!! Tierra de machos y no de
muchos!!!! Whats good!!! I am actually excited to stay here!! I dont
have to much time which is sad but i will send some photos of me at
the sign in cerro!! So i found out that our area is the highest area!!
in all of peru!!!! Cool huh?

Love yall, and thanks for the pictures!!! And yes mom that was me with
the money! love yall!!!

What's good???

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Monday, February 9, 2015 9:32 AM

Hahaha, well this was an interesting week. The first couple of days
were slow, and then it picked up. We found a new investigator named
jon! He is 18 and he doesnt believe in God but says he wants to
believe and have a relationship with him! So thats good!!! It has been
really slow here and we are trying our very best but sometimes I just
feel like Cerro de Pasco is hitting me in the face like a bag of
bricks. It has hailed this whole week... My umbrella has holes in it
now so hopefully I can buy a new one!

Being here in Cerro de Pasco has been nothing but a testimony builder
to me... Yes... it is cold... yes it hails every day... yes we teach
about 3 lessons in total a week.. but something that i have realized
was, that i wasnt gonna be babied here in peru and baptize millions..
that just aint gonna happen. In my interview with president he told me
i was in one of the hardest areas in all of peru and they average 2
baptisms here a year.. That made me feel better that i wasnt just
failing here. But i think i was put here as a test of my faith. Yall
all probably know by now that it really has been a test of my faith.
But i aint gonna let it budge me. As district leader i have been able
to help find the needs of there investigators and really been able to
help them out! And I have seen the Lord bless me with the gift of
tounges as i have no problem speaking spanish, it just came to me
after diligent studying! And i only have 8 months! I know my spanish
isnt perfect however, so for that i am following that advice of my
brothers to study it every day! Ya know its super cold here, but i
feel like i just need to be grateful, because who knows if i will get
sent to la merced where you sweat in your sleep!!!

Soy, the hermanas in my district had a baptism so that was
good! But then right after my companion had to go to the clinic and
get a ingrown toe nail removed.... it was gross... so now he cant walk
much...

i gave a talk on missionary work. it was good. And then me
and my companion and the two zone leaders, (cause we are in the same
ward), sang quartet of called to serve (first verse spanish, second
english). I really enjoyed that. We sang dang good!!! hahaha

Transfers are and i feel like i still have time here in cerro
de pasco, there is some one here that i need to find.. And i will find
them!

I love all my friends and family!!

Con mucho amor y muchos llamas,

Elder Thatcher

got the package!!! heck ya mom!!

Update

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Sunday, February 1, 2015 12:03 PM

Well this week has been super hard. So on wednesday elder Schriener
and i fasted for 24 hours so we can find more people.... not until
friday were we able to find 3 new investigators. I hope this week they
can progress, they are 2 kids that are neighbors and then one of the
kids moms. I am pretty excited for this next week.

So president wasnt able to come do interviews, so i dont know when we
are going to do those. This wednesday i am going to huancayo to go to
a conference for all the district leaders in the mission. So i will
get good food and get to see lots of missionaries cause ive been stuck
in cerro, i will get to see elder lopez as well!! Then we get to play
soccer for 3 hours in a nice field, im excited!!

Well not too much went on, just cold here in cerro de pasco!! Love
yall so much!!

Cerro de pasco -Tierra de machos y no de muchos!!!!-

Happy birthday Josh!

Well... soo funny story... Elder Schreiner and I were super sick this
week with fevers and were only able to leave our rooms til saturday.
It was terrible. But ya.. we are better now, thanks to the health
secretary helping us out. It has been good though. I feel a ton better
which is good and same with my companion. It was funny, he said how he
never got sick when he was in the jungle and then he gets sent here
and finally got sick. Felt sad, but just about everyone here in Cerro
gets sick at least once.

So our area is getting tough, just about everyone in our area that we
contact says that they were members at one time of there lives. So
almost everyone in our area is less actives, so we will be working a
lot with them this week..

GUESS WHAT!!!! today we are going out to eat at a restaurant and there
is something called lomo fino which is like juicy steak. And there is
this one restaurant that sells it here that we found. Im gonna buy
it!!!! It will be sooooo good, only problem is, its like 50 soles,
which is like 15 dollars i think.

But yeah that is about it..

Til next week.

Well, Elder Walker left me for the jungle, and now my companion is
Elder Schriener from springville Utah. He was elder walkers companion
in the ccm. It is cool! My third gringo companion in a row. It is
crazy. But ya im still here in cerro freezing!!! But i like it here.
It has been hard trying to find new people... But hermana Patricia, my
convert, is sharing the gospel like crazy and giving us references, so
maybe this week when we contact some of them it will be better. It has
been raining alot. We are just entering cold rainy season. My
pensionista is super worried for me cause i am losing weight, i dont
know why that is happening because i eat my food.

Anyways, just still here in Cerro, Elder Kidd left Cerro as well, he
also left for the jungle. Well Love you all.

Elder Thatcher

Bye elder walker and elder Kidd!!

Post Christmas

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Monday, December 29, 2014 4:50 PM

Well this week has been great to see all my family!! It was awesome to
turn it on and see all my nephews and nieces on the screen. Made my
day!! This week has been interesting... Not to much work.. Which is
sad because all of our investigators and basically everyone who has a
brain would leave Cerro de Pasco for the holidays. It didnt even feel
like Christmas here. So ya hardly anyone was here, so we visited
members.... which was a mistake... we ate soooooo much gross food...
Turkey, rice, and potatoes.... and fruit cake... and then this drink
called maka... sooooo gross.... I ate it all day... and the turkey is
boiled and dry.... Im not lying I threw up that night, and so did my
companion... just too much gross food.. The fruit cake is gross... i
ate 8 hugeeee pieces of it.... so gross... ( PLEASEEEE if anyone wants
to send food, go ahead haha) Luckily i didnt have to eat guinea pig,
so thats good...

Me and my companion are going to try to make tacos today, im sure its
going to be a fail, becasue all the ingredients are way off... We have
transfers tomorrow, so we will see what happens with me and Elder
Walker. Elder Kidd, my zone leader is getting transfered out of here
for sure because he has 6 months here ( what a trooper) so ya that is
usually the max you have in an area so we will see.

I loved seeing everyone, i really liked talking spanish with chris,
that was cool!! I will send some pics... Love yall!!!!

With love,
Elder Thatcher

This past week has just been tiring! We went to Huanuco for our
Christmas conference! It was awesome! I had lasagna!! It was soooo
good!!!   So ya just travelimg and then the marriage and the baptism.
I have been good. Just tired haha. The transfer is almost over, so we

hello to all!!!!! It is cold right now as I am typing. Not much that
went on this week. Other than we have been working really hard with a
couple of our investigators! We have one date for the 4th of january
for a 15 year old boy named william, and also one for the 27 of
december for a 36 year old lady named patricia. But she still has to
get married first with the person she lives with. But the marriage
should be finished the 13!!! so it is really exciting right now!!! The
work is hard and cold her but Elder Walker and I are working our
hardest.

I love my Zone here, my zone leaders are awesome and are helping me
out a lot!! Im learning a lot and having a lot of fun as well. They
said my package is in huancayo so i will get it this friday! Super
excited! All the food here gets super cold, so right when its fresh we
eat fast!!

It is crazy how fast transfers go, it is already coming to an end with
Elder Walker which is sad!! I hear Bridger is in Mexico!!! GO ELDER
MYERS! DO WORK IN MEXICO!!

Well Feliz Navidad to all!!!

With love,
Elder Thatcher

me and my companion, and my zone leaders hahaha!!!!! We are cool

So get this!!! We found a real golf course here in cerro!!! The
gringos made it when they used to be here!!!!!
GOLF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont really see how it is one, but it
is!!!!!

Buenas dias

Posted by cameron and chelsea , Thursday, December 4, 2014 11:24 AM

Well Cerro is treating me real nice! Love it here more and more each
day. President emailed me and basically he didnt see my change going
that way but the Lord did. I dont exactly understand that but it is
ok. I love here anyways! For Thanksgiving elder walker and I went out
to eat with our zone leaders (who are awesome) to a really good
restaurant! Then after that, Elder Walker and i went and bought some
pie! It was really good!! Look at the pictures!

Anyways, I had my second district meeting on Tuesday, and I was able
to find the needs of my district and teach them according to that. The
Zone leaders went to Huancayo for a zone leaders conference and told
everyone how i am district leader. Apparently everyone knows about me
now, Even elders I dont know yet. The youngest district leader in our
mission had 11 months, now everyoneee knows about me. I just dont
understand why i am district leader right now. I was expecting to be
junior companion for another 6 to 7 months. But my zone leaders keep
telling me to not doubt president. I hope i understand it soon.

On wednesday I went on splits with my zone leader, Elder Kidd, he only
has like 3 months left on the mission. He is a super hard working
Elder, and just a great guy! I learned a lot from him.

So this week, I want to talk about faith. and hope. So right before I
came heere to Cerro de Pasco, my area was just barely opened up. So it
is a new area. And so far it has just been super hard finding people.
Because there isnt any members that live in our area. It is a fairly
poor area. And so on friday... Ya friday was rough.. We didnt teach
anyone alllll day.!!! Was the first time i havent taught someone
everyday. I was so sad. It reeeeally put a trial on my faith and hope
as well it did to Elder Walker. We didnt know what to do. We dont have
very many investigators and it is just really hard. So on saturday
elder walker and i decided to fast. Fast until we found someone who
was prepared to hear this gospel. We knocked, and contacted, and
knocked for 6 and a half hours, just contacting. We had 43 contacts
that day... And no one wanted to hear. We were about to go back to the
room, but Elder walker and I wanted to contact one more person. So we
knocked, and a 19 year old boy opened the door. And I just knew he
would let us teach him. AND HE DID!!! His name is Anderson. And he
just had so many questions!!! We gave him a Book of mormon and he was
excited to read it! He told us he wanted us to come back! The only
problem is he studies alllll week, so we can only teach him on
Sundays! It just goes to show you that if you can just put your trust
in the Lord and keep going and working with Faith that he will putt
someone in our paths! It has been a long week. But i am ready to work
even harder!!

On Sunday, I was asked to give a talk 5 min before sacrament meerting
about tithing. I was so nervous. But anyways!!!! My spanish!!!! It
just came to me! I didnt have to worry or anything!!! I am so suprised
how it is just coming to me all of a sudden!!!

So ya that is my week so far!!! Pretty good! I am thankful for my
family! I love Yall!!

With love
Elder Thatcher
